Many wondered today (Saturday 5/23) what the reasons for the low turnout at the local Saturday charity tournaments.  Most say the economy, some mentioned a holiday weekend but almost everyone agreed it was the issue of April 18th.  Although the numbers stay strong on Thursday nights, how much longer will the charities continue to hold Saturday afternoon events?  They do it to raise money.  Not raising any money will certainly lead to fewer or no Saturday afternoon charity tournaments. 

Congratulations to John LeCato of Quinby, Virginia (Eastern Shore) for placing 7th in the Ron Jawarski Charity Poker Tournament at Harrah's in Altantic City last weekend.  It was a $340 Buyin and John won $900 for his 7th place win.  More interesting John said he, "had a ball playing with professoinal football players like Mike Ditka and Joe Theisman".  There were 65 players, mostly current and ex-professional football players.  John plays locally when he can and has placed in several recent Civic Center events.

The Charity stays the same, but the LOCATION has changed for this Saturday's, May 23rd Tournament.  The Charity is Diamond Dreams Youth Baseball and the charity poker tourmaent will be held at their building at 30174 Foskey Lane, Delmar, MD.  Click Here for a Map.  It's a $150 Buyin with $10,000 in chips and 30 minutes blinds.  Doors open at 10AM with $35 SNG's with 1st and 2nd winning thier buyin.  Main Event begins at 12 Noon.
