$5,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool Tournament at the Salisbury VFW This Saturday

UPDATE: 2/5 @ 10PM - SALISBURY VFW DOES IT AGAIN! A great turnout for their $5,000 Guarantee $150 Buyin today. 67 Players entered today's event plus 6 reseats made a $7,700+ prize pool. Players got $30,000 in chips, 30 minute blinds, ate a delicious lunch and drinks throughout. The last hand was dealt at 9:30PM. Congratulations to Ed Wilson for taking 1st place and $2,250 and Pat Lynch & Chad Gravenor for chopping 2nd and 3rd and $1,450 each. They paid a total of 9 spots. No chop was discussed until the final three.

Congratulations to Jeff Rantz, Bill King and their ladies as well as the VFW staff for an excellent job and to prove to the Delmarva Poker Players that Charity Poker does live on on the Eastern Shore.

Local Player Wins 2nd Place & $94,000 In Borgata $500 Buyin

Local Poker Player, Josh Lawson entered the $500 Buyin $300,000 Guaranteed at the Borgata January 19th and a day later he found himself taking 2nd Place and $94,236 in cash for his win. Girdletree Value Added Tournament Series for 2011

UPDATE - January 15, 2011 @ 7:15PM. 24 Players entered today's 1st of 6 Value Added Poker Tournamnet at the Girdletree Firehouse, making a $2,400 prize pool. 1st, $1,200; 2nd, $720; and 3rd 480. The players today guarantee themselves a FREE shot at the May $300 Buyin Event with a Guaranteed $10,000 Prize Pool. Food & drink was also included and they watched the Maryland and Ravens game on 55 inch HDTVs. The game ended when the final 3 played three handed for 45 minutes and chopped the pot $800 a piece when the chips were within $40k of each other. The last hand was dealt at 7:10PM. The 3 winners were John L., Mick and Truck.

Girdletree Fire Company to host a special "series" of tournaments January thru May 2011. The first tournament will be Saturday, January 15th and is a $150 buyin.

Happy New Year

We would like to wish you and your family a Happy New Year. As 2011 begins, please keep in mind there are Charities still offering a great alternative to Casino Poker. The charities, whether a firehouse, a VFW, American Legion or a Delaware charity poker room serve a purpose at a great value.

Charity Poker Rooms

On Saturday, December 18th I traveled to the Full House Poker Room in Delmar, Delaware. Although I didn't fair well, lost a big hand when I semi-bluffed with a flush draw only to find a player behind who flopped two pair. Although I hit my flush on the turn, he hit a full house and I was done. They use a $5 straddle button and it was in play this hand. The player with the straddle raised $5 making $10 to play after 7 other players limped. All called the raise and with the blinds and there was $77 in the pot preflop. The flop brought a KJ2 with two spades. A player behind me bet $10 with one caller before me and I raise to $100 to get players out. The player behind me thought about 5 minutes (litterally) before pushing allin. I called, the hand is history. I lost, it's poker. I had fun.
