3 Local Charity Events This Past Saturday |
Three local poker tournaments held yesterday in Maryland and the first Bigger Buyin at Harrington. The three Maryland events were poorly attended at two and an average attendance for the third. In Maryland, unbeknownst to this website, Sharptown, who had previously posted their events in this forum held a tournanment with 11 players and Hurlock Fire Company held a tournament too, with 7 players showing up. Ridgley did the best with almost 40 players at their night time event. I haven't heard how Harrington Casino's first bigger buyin went.
I have had the opporutnity to play in several of Harrington's Tuesday and Thursday 11AM events and it was hit or miss with a sell out of 50. The chip counts are low and the blinds are 20 minutes. In the Saturday $225 tournament the blinds go to 30 minutes after the first several levels. If anyone played in the Harrington event and would like to comment, please email

Be Part of "Team Delmarva Poker" for the 2011 WSOP |
There are seveal local poker players who have requested a partnership to send a local player to the 2011 WSOP in Las Vegas, NV. The partnership is proposed to be comprised of 20 players who will each have a "stake" in the winnings of the player named to represent the Delmarva Poker Team.
The exact details of the percentages has not been completed, but a list of players is being comprised at this time. The concept will have a series of poker tournaments, four to five, with points awarded for the place of finish with the points leader winning to represent Delmarva Poker Team. The point winner will received the largest percentage of any winnings, but each of the 20 players will have a stake in the winners WSOP play.
A total investment of $640 from each player will be required. That $640 will give the player an oppurtunity to play in four to five tournament style games, location to be announced, to earn points to be the Team's Representative. With the winner receiving the $10,000 seat and $2,000 in expense cash. At least two qualifying satellites will be held to win your $640 from a $75 buyin satellite. The dates of the satellites and the actually tournaments will be announced soon.
If you are serious about being a shareholder in the partnership for the Delmarva Poker Team, send an email to this address

Local Poker Tournament Choices - MD Charities vs. DE Casinos |
Delaware Casino tournaments offer great tournament action at a decent value from the "juice" standpoint, but are lacking two things. Good playing time and good starting chips. I had an oppurtunity to play in the Thursday 11AM tournament at Harrington. $3,000 in chips, 20 minute blinds and live dealers. Not a bad value for $60, but Harrington limits players to 50. Now by saying that I know the attendance in the Maryland Charity tournaments has been well below that for the last year or so. And only the Salisbury VFW and the Girdletree Firehouse has exceeded 50 players within the last year, but for a Casino you run the risk of being sold out and limited prize money.

Girdletree's Deep Stacks on Saturday, October 16th |
Update: Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 8PM- 30 Players entered today's $125 Deep Stack at the Girdletree Firehouse. They ran two $35 SNG and four people qualified for their buyin. Prizes are $1,450, $850, & $550. Play ending at 7:45PM with a four way chop. The chip leader, "CR" who had $500,000 of the $900k in play offered a deal. He would take $1,100 and the others chopped equally at $600. Those three were Frank F., Kim C. and Brian U.
This Saturday the Girdletree Volunteer Fire Company will host another one of their great Charity Poker Tournaments. It's a $125 Deep Stacks Tournament with $30,000 in chips and 30 minute blinds. Only $25 goes towards the charity and if they get 50 playes they will kick back another $500 in the prize pool which means the charity cut is $15 and $110 will go towards the prize.
Last month they held a $125 Deep Stacks and had 38 players. Surely we can find 12 more players, whether a new player or an old player who just hasn't come out to play the local Delmarva Charity Poker scene recently.
Doors open at 10AM with $35 Qualifying SNG's with 1st & 2nd winning thier $125 Buyin. SNG will start when 10 players are seated with the last SNG starting at 11AM. The Deep Stacks Tournament will begin at 12 Noon. So make plans now to attend, the address is 2739 Snow Hill Road, Girdletree, Maryland. There is never a parking problem, the food is usually good and they fixed the cell phone problem and your cell phone will work from within the building.
