October Charity Tournaments |
The month of October is one of the most active charity poker months we've seen since the end of March. There are 3 Saturday tournaments and of course the usual Salisbury VFW Thursday night tournaments. The average seems to be about 30 and even with that amount of players it still makes for a decent payout and fun for all. All three Delaware Casinos are now having tournaments. However, Harrington's are just Tuesday and Thursday at 11AM. Dover and Delaware park share afternoon and evening tournaments. But all three casinos only offer low buyins. Delaware Park is saying they will be hosting a $120ish buyin, but each of these tournaments are scheduled to be over within about four hours. So to find a decent tournament with good starting chips and blind levels where you can be patient and play a good style game to win using skill. But the Maryland charity tournaments offer that with a great deal.
Here are the Saturday events scheduled for October.
Saturday, October 2nd, Sharptown American Legion, $80 Knockout. Doors open at 10AM, tournament begins at 12 Noon.
Saturday, October 16th, Girdletree Firehouse, $125 Deep Stacks, $30,000 in chips, Doors open at 10AM, tournament begins at 12 Noon and the Queen Anne-Hillsboro Firehouse, $75 Buyin.

Locals Looking for a 2011 WSOP Player's Group |
We have been asked to put up this article by several local, loyal charity poker players who would like to form a group to sent a local player to the 2011 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Basically, their idea is simple and they would like to have a comitted 30 to 40 player base, paying between $300 to $400 each, up front to play for a $12,000 prize to include the buyin, airfare and hotel. Each player would have a stake at the player who win and plays. The player would be chosen by points and although you can play in the weekly tournament, you are not committed to. But obviously the more you play the greater your points would be. There was also an interest to have players "earn" poins by playing in "sanctioned" local and professional events. Those details have not been determined. But at the least, 30 to 40 players, playing up to 20 weeks or so to establish a points-based-player to send to the WSOP in July 2011.
If you are interest please send your name and phone number to
