Mardela Announces "Player of the Year" Award for 2010
Written by Erik Jonson
Wednesday, 30 December 2009 17:02

Mardela Springs VFC would like to announce a Player of the Year contest starting in our January Tournament.  The prize will be 5% of the house take with a minimum of $500.  I expect the prize to be well over the minimum though.  If we had run this in 2009, it would have been $750 and we spent half the year at 20+ players.  I fully expect to see one lucky player win over $1,000.  If this is successful we will expand the number of players paid in following years.

Additionally we will not be changing our buy-in or house take.  It will remain at $150 and $30 respectively.  We will be going to $15,000 in chips with a $3,000 bonus to players arriving on time.  This means you must have your seat paid for by noon to get the $3,000.

I will be posting the point system and blind schedule soon.

Thank You

Erik Johnson

Friend, Father and Tournament Director Makes A Christmas Request!

UPDATED: Sunday,  December 27, 2009 - A few players have posted comments to Jeff Rantz' request.  Maybe many players didn't know, but yes, Tom Leggs,  played quite often at many of the local charity poker venues.  I have received several phone callls yesterday and today from some of our members who expressed outrage and disbelief that someone we knew could do such a thing.  Most wanted a place to vent and share their feelings for a little girl they didn't even know.  So please feel free to post your comments by clicking this link.  Like most of the other news forums and blogs,  people have been touched by this event.  And although not the outcome we all had wished for, at least her family knows little Sarah is in a much better place.

Salisbury VFW Has HUGE Turnout for Holiday Party & Tournament

At first it appeared the 60 or so early players showed up at the Salisbury VFW for the Holiday Party and the food.  The food hit the tables at 6:30PM and by 7PM 90+ players had registered to play tonight's (Thursday, December 17, 2009) tournament.  Maybe they liked the different format, a $75 "Knockout" (Bounty) Tournament.  No rebuys or addons, but reseats during the first hour and half.  This webmaster left at 7:30 and there were over 100 players and several reseats.  I helped Jeff setup two additional tables to accommodate the large crowd.  Say it was the food, the holidays or just a great local poker playing time; the local players came out tonight (Thursday).

Friday, 18 December 2009 18:34

Due to the pending Winter Weather Storm/Nor'easter, the Diamond Dreams Youth Sponsor of Saturday's, December 19th Charity Poker Tournament at the Hebron Lions Club has been CANCELLED.  Diamond Dreams is erring on the side of safety. The decision was just made  at 6:30PM, Friday night.  There is no make up date due to the Holiday, however they have another tournament scheduled in January for the same location.

If you read this post, please pass the information along to your friends that you think might be playing.  The cancellation is late, but is believed to be the correct decision.  Players with questions can call Steve Lambrose at 410-430-6011.
